As part of our commitment to support customers in thwarting fraudsters, we’ve been actively investing in the TabaPay Shield risk management suite by developing and launching new solutions. Today, we’re thrilled to share the latest addition, Account Name Inquiry (ANI), is now live in production for any Visa issued cards. In this brief product update, we’ll share what you need to know about ANI and how to get access.
But first, a quick refresher on ANI
ANI is a preventative control to mitigate card payment fraud from stolen card credentials and account takeovers. It works by verifying an account cardholder’s name against the name held by their issuing bank. ANI should be performed in advance of authorizing a transaction, as part of customer onboarding, or when a customer is adding new card on file.
Example flow for ANI
In addition to mitigating fraud, what are other benefits to you?
- ANI gives you greater precision verifying cardholder identities
- Flexibility by layering ANI on top of Address Verification Services (AVS) while fortifying account validation practices
- Streamlining cardholder verifications by using card issuer data to match a first, middle, last, or full name prior to authorization
- Reducing exposure to card acceptance fraud, payout to card fraud, and other account takeover schemes
